With San Diego State University, applied for funding for the University Principal Preparation Initiative from the Wallace Foundation. With one of six awards to be granted, the focus is to create a new—and better—norm for principal pre-service training in the 700+university programs nationally, based on what we have learned over the last 15 years about what makes for effective principals. The question the initiative seeks to answer is:  How can university principal preparation programs—working in partnership with high-needs school districts, exemplary preparation programs and the state—improve their training so it reflects the evidence on how best to prepare effective principals? Amount: $350,000

The grant, School Technology Leadership International Deployment from the Department of Educational Leadership Studies, was used to expand the school technology leadership program into new markets, namely Southeast Asia.

Along with co-principal investigator Dr. Justin Bathon, the award aimed to develop a graduate certificate, Masters degree, and PhD in School Technology Leadership. All three programs were designed to be delivered fully online. $215,000
